Man, 52, held for keeping teenage boy for sodomy

A 52 -year-old trader, who lives at Maje village in the outskirt of Suleja in Niger State, was on Saturday, arrested by the police for allegedly kidnapping a boy and keeping him for homosexual activity for over two months. 
Hassan Muhammad, a father of seven and hailed from Wurno in Sokoto State, was first arrested by members of the Suleja Emirate Vigilante operating in the area and was handed over to the Suleja Police Area Command, where he was currently being held.
The victim, a 14- year- old boy (name withheld), who was on admission at the Suleja General Hospital told Daily Trust that the man met him two months ago at Lambata village along Suleja-Minna road, where he lives with an Islamic instructor as an Almajiri at the cleric’s informal school. 


According to him, during the encounter, the suspect lured him to join him in his business of selling dresses at Maje, where he has a shop.
The victim alleged that on that same date, the suspect took him to a village market, where they had gone to sell his wares and he then returned him to his base.
The victim alleged further that he used to sleep with the suspect inside his shop as the man’s family is based in Sokoto State.
He said on the first night, he woke up to find himself half-naked with the man beside him cleaning his private part. 
“I attempted to leave the shop the following day but had to return as I  developed haziness on my way,’’ he added.
The victim further disclosed that the man usually locked him in the shop anytime he was away but always together in the shop whenever he was around.
He alleged that the man used to rape him twice in a week and that he only feel relieved from his stomach itching after such action.
Sources at the Suleja Emirate Vigilante said the matter which was reported to their office at the village where the incidence took place by some residents, led to the arrest of the suspect, who they said, confessed to the crime before being handed over to the police for further investigation. 
The Islamic cleric, who was taking care of the boy before he was taken by the accused, Malam Muhammad Tasi’u, said he brought the boy with others from Bagwai Local Government Area in Kano State from his parents, who handed him over to him as an Almajiri pupil.
A nurse, who attends to the victim during our reporter’s visit, said he is undergoing various treatments pending the result of the tests conducted on him including that of HIV/AIDS. 
Police in the area confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
