Dublin based Nigerian business man, Taiwo Jamani, dies after an attack with a baseball bat

A Nigerian business man based in Dublin, Taiwo Jamani, who was injured in an assault last month on Main Street in Swords Co, Dublin died in Beaumont Hospital on Thursday.

The 45-year-old was battered across the head with a baseball bat in broad daylight on October 10 while shoppers and passers-by looked on in horror. Reports said Jamani and his business partner, identified as Jooda Akanbi, were in a fight, which resulted in the victim being left unconscious.

Eye-witnesses described the scenes as “mayhem” and said the injured man suffered a violent blow to the back of the head.

“Then the man with the bat held it high over his head and brought it down hard on the other man’s head and he just slumped to the ground,” said witness Alan Murphy.
Akanbi, was said to have paced around the scene until security operatives arrived and arrested him. An officer from the technical bureau photographed the scene, including a baseball glove found on the rear seat of the blue 00 Cork registered BMW car.
The victim was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where doctors battled to save him until his death on November 14.
