Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has revealed that captain of the team, Vincent Enyeama, asked to be withdrawn from the squad that will face Tanzania this weekend.
The former international told reporters at a media parley in Abuja on Wednesday, that “Enyeama personally asked to be withdrawn from the Super Eagles team for Tanzania.”
Warri Wolves goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, has been called up to replace Enyeama and is very likely to make his debut in the AFCON 2017 qualifier.
“My philosophy is based on the team being the star… Everybody doing well because the team is doing well,” he said.
He also stated that his original plan was to pick four home-based players for the trip to Dar es Salaam, but was impressed by what he saw and had to increase the number to six.
Oliseh added: “I have been most impressed with the home-based players so far.”
