Fire guts AIT studio in Alagbado


Fire Outbreak In AIT Office, Alagbado
THE Studio of Daar Communications Plc, owner of the African Independent Television (AIT) and Ray Power FM located  at Alagbado area of Lagos  was on Monday morning gutted by fire.
 The inferno reported immediately after its early morning news magazine programme, “Kaakaki” at its Lagos Alagbado office started from a high voltage electricity in the studio.
 However, the fire was reportedly put out around 9: 30 am  by  combined efforts of the  Lagos State Fire Service men from  Agege, Ikeja and Alausa division.
The  inferno, which occurred just a day after  Sir Gabriel Igbinedion-owned Independent Television and Radio(ITV) Station in Benin the capital of Edo State was totally razed by fire affected  morning programming from the Lagos office of the station as Ray Power could not aired its 10am world news.
However,  unlike the  ITV Benin inferno, the Lagos state  Director of Fire Service, Fasak Fadipe, who confirmed the incident,  said his men arrived at the scene 15 minutes after a call was received from the media house, adding that it took 15 minutes to put off the fire.
 He also disclosed the cause of the fire, blaming it on the impact of a high voltage on the AC been used in the Studio
Although no lives were lost in the incident, few property were damaged by the fire.
“Only the AC was badly damaged as we were able to curtail the spread of the fire. The management of the station had also combated it and they must be commended for having all the fire equipment, ” he said.
