Super Eagles skipper Joseph Yobo has cautioned
dissatisfied West Brom striker Osaze Odemwingie over his verbal tirade on coach
Steven Keshi and ex-international Victor Ikpeba.
Odemwingie launched online attacks on the
duo after he was left out of Nigeria’s provisional 32-man list for the 2013
Nations Cup.
Commenting on Brila
FM programme Sports
Machine on Friday, Yobo said
Odemwingie’s outburst was a distraction to the team, calling on him to respect
the coach and the team.
‘’If suddenly everyone has now become your
enemy, you must examine yourself in the front of a mirror,’’ he said,
adding that Odemwingie’s action justified Keshi’s decision to leave him out.
‘’Osaze should respect Nigeria and stop
embarrassing the country in the social media. He should approach football
matters maturely and as a true Nigerian, he should support the team and pray
for our success in South Africa.”
Questioned about his future with the Eagles,
Yobo said the 2013 Nations Cup would be his last as he would like to give an
opportunity to younger players to develop
